Cost of Attendance
The “Cost of Attendance” (COA) provides students with a breakdown of the estimated expenses that they may incur while attending LSU Health New Orleans.
The COA estimates are used to build the Student Budget, which the Department of Education sets as the limit of financial aid a student is allowed to receive each year.
Both hard charges (tuition and fees) and living expenses estimates are used to create the COA/Student budget.
The COA only covers the months that students are enrolled in their programs -- meaning, students will want to budget their financial aid to cover the full calendar year.
The COA must be prorated by the payment period for the cost of books, supplies, and equipment [including kits] when determining the amount of Title IV aid to credit for a given payment period.
While students must take into account tuition and fees, they should also note living expenses such as rent, groceries, gas, ect.
The Department of Education provides a Net Price Calculator. The calculator is a tool that allows current and prospective students, families, and other consumers to estimate the net price of attending a particular college or career school.
Students can always contact the Office of Student Financial Aid to request to revise their aid. The office can assist you in:
- Reducing or returning any excess funds
- Requesting additional aid if there is room with the student's Cost of Attendance/Budget
The Office of Student Financial Aid now has a "Request for Revision" form located on student self-service portals that can be filled out to streamline this process.
The tuition and fees breakdown of each school for the newest academic year can be found here.
